Donor Conception: Destination Series

Our Donor Conception Destination Series is a six week series designed for intended parents or parents via donor conception and their partner or support person (who have pursued donor egg, donor sperm or donor embryo). This program focuses on the ultimate destination: loving, supporting and parenting a donor conceived child. It is recommended that you complete our Donor Conception Journey Series before signing up unless you are already a parent of a donor conceived child. This series is led by our instructors, in conjunction with experts in the field to help guide you on your parenting journey.

A DC Parent Community

Connect with other people who are pursuing or who have pursued donor conception - your new friends you didn’t know how bad you needed! This is such a unique and magical way to parenthood, and is important that you are surrounded by people who understand and can support you. We can’t wait to (virtually) wrap our arms around you!

Talking To Your Child

This is your love story and we want to help you talk about it with your partner, your family and your child. We want to help you find your voice, empower you and give you the framework for telling your story the way you feel most comfortable. This session, led by a therapist who will dive deeper into the right words to use, what emotions may come up, and how to prepare for potential questions.

Handling Uncomfortable Reactions

We want to help you build confidence in your family story, to help you navigate tough conversations with friends, family, teachers, neighbors, etc. This session is led by a licensed therapist, who wants to help you prepare for these moments and arm you with the right tools and terminology.

Exploring Terminology

We want to help you feel empowered in the terminology your family uses when discussing the donor(s) and any genetic connections to your child. In this session, we will explore different terms and words to help you feel best prepared.

Chosen Family

It takes a village, and sometimes that includes gamete donors. In this session you will hear from mothers and their adult daughters who were donor conceived. They will share their personal perspectives as mother and child and what helped them both find confidence and pride in their family story.

A Positive Parent-Child Relationship

In this session we will discuss ways to best support your child and cultivate a strong, healthy long lasting bond. Gain some insight, backed by research to help guide you on your journey as a parent to a donor conceived child.

“Infertility Unfiltered brought me into a community I didn’t know I needed. I’ve formed friendships with women who are walking the same path as I have, who are there when something seemingly small is actually an infertility trigger, and to lean in so many other ways. Infertility unfiltered not only provided an outlet and a resource, but gifted me, my husband, and our donor conceived daughter with a global community of friends and confidants. I will be forever grateful for this platform.”

Growing up with a diagnosis that has infertility as a side effect felt VERY isolating. I didn’t know anyone that could relate to the struggles I was having in my infertility journey. I found infertility unfiltered on Victoria Niño’s instagram right after I had already pursued egg donation with my husband and I was pregnant with my first son. I was able to meet and connect with so many women like me. To this day we still send each other photos and messages via WhatsApp and share our life experiences with our children or support those who are still going through their motherhood journey. These groups are truly life changing. A safe space to learn from experts and peers. A space to feel heard and connect. I highly recommend the donor conception sessions for those considering egg donation or already on their egg donation journey!

“The instant support I felt from this group healed me in so many ways. It helped me be less mean to myself, showing me that being in this position was not my fault and I was not less of a woman. I simply had bad luck, just like these other women. But individually and together, we all were starting to see the beauty of this option and how it could give us what we ultimately wanted: kids to love and parent. The group also provided great guest speakers with practical advice, including for my husband. (Partners are invited to attend many of the sessions!)I loved the Journey group so much that I also signed up for the Destination group, which I just finished. Now, six months from my diagnosis and being told I needed to use donor eggs to conceive, I feel worlds better, so confident and equipped and strong. I never imagined feeling this at peace (and excited!) at the outset of my journey.”
